hear the sound of Freedom
Be heard at Usapang Masa every Saturday 3:00 - 4:00 pm (Mark Ignacio)
I am happy to join with you today to share the vision that will go down in the history of our ones great nation. Twenty one years ago a so called great Filipino refurbished the book that binds the land and called it Freedom Constitution. This momentous move came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Filipinos who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But tweny one years later, the so called freedom constitution was discovered to be a mediocre and not at all pro-freedom instead a constition created through bitterness and inequality. serving only the people who created it. the life of the filipino is still sadly crippled by the manacles of injustice and the chains of discrimination. Twenty One years later, the filipino lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity.
This constitution was a promise that all men, yes, rich or poor, muslims or christian would be guaranteed the “unalienable Rights” of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” It is obvious today that the freedom constitution and its creators has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, cory and her cohorts has given the Filipino people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.”
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.
We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we’ve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind The Philippines of the fierce urgency of NOW! This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. NOW is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of poverty to the sunlit path of injustice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of corruption to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. We need to make a move and we have to do it NOW. Taking the first step is pivotal to what will be the result of the change we are hoping for. But no matter what we have to start moving and dancing to the tune of CHA-CHA TODAY.
We have to custom fit economic policies that could give as advantage over our neighboring countries, we have to update most of the laws in all angles, to render laws that could end insurgency, and create laws that would support SME’s.
The mediocre constitution that was created by cory aquino is truly a work of art. where in the world even in hell can you see a constitution that needs to be interpret at all times. A constitution created from another constitution only they cut the most important contents. its like watching a movie that has no clear ending that will make you think “what the hell happened”.I cannot do this alone but WE can make it happen. We can be HEARD, They will UNDERSTAND. That we filipinos will not settle for less we are awakened by our God given rights. Life, Liverty, and Love.
Lets make then realize that out of MANY we are ONE.this will be the day when all of Filipinos will be able to sing with new meaning:
Bayang Magiliw Perlas ng Silanganan,
Alab ng puso Sa dibdib mo’y buhay.
Lupang hinirang, Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig Di ka pasisiil.
Aming ligaya, na ‘pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa ‘yo.
And if Philippines is to be a great nation, this must become true.
And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of benguet.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of cordillera.
Let freedom ring from the heightening towers of Ayala.
et freedom ring from the sky scrapers of Ortigas.
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of quezon.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring within the walls of intramuros
Let freedom ring fromthe alleys of tondo.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of bohol.
Let freedom ring from the rocky mountains of Sulu.
Let Freedom ring from the lands of iloilo
From every mountainside, towers and lands, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every region and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, rich and poor , muslims and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of Lupang hinirang.Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!3
